I’m so confused

So apparently some lame-ass conservative group sets up a “sting” to try to get NPR to look bad. During the meeting between senior vice president for fundraising, Ron Schiller and men posing as members of a fictitious Muslim Education Action Center Trust, Mr. Schiller made the following statements:

— “The Tea Party is fanatically involved in people’s personal lives and very fundamental Christian — I wouldn’t even call it Christian. It’s this weird evangelical kind of move.”

— “Tea Party people” aren’t “just Islamaphobic, but really xenophobic, I mean basically they are, they believe in sort of white, middle-America gun-toting. I mean, it’s scary. They’re seriously racist, racist people.”

— “I think what we all believe is if we don’t have Muslim voices in our schools, on the air … it’s the same thing we faced as a nation when we didn’t have female voices.”

He also suggested that public radio might be able to survive if government funding were cut off. Hmmmm, those sound like fairly reasonable assessments. The first two are observably accurate. I’m not so sure about the muslim voices  since I don’t personally think we need more religious voices, but I certainly wouldn’t make any efforts to stifle them.

It seems that the powers at NPR don’t like their people to go around saying things that are true about Tea Partiers. Heaven forbid that journalists tell the fucking truth about a bunch of frigging lunatics. No, that would demonstrate bias or something. I don’t know about you, but being biased towards objective reality sounds like a pretty damn good bias to me.

Dana Davis Rehm, NPR’s senior vice president of marketing, communications and external relations, released the following statement:

We are appalled by the comments made by Ron Schiller in the video, which are contrary to what NPR stands for.

So telling the truth about the Tea Party is “appalling” and “contrary to what NPR stands for”? Fuck that noise. Grow some gonads, NPR. Stand up to the lunacy that is “fair and balanced” journalism and start telling the truth.

Oh, what’s that? NPR CEO Vivian Schiller has just resigned been kicked out over this? Never mind.

Victim blaming bullshit

Well, I found something to write about. Unfortunately, it’s something disgusting and vile.

Britni wrote a blog post (It’s MY body) about being sexually assaulted in a club the other night, undoubtedly a very traumatic experience made worse by the fact that it was not the first time she has been a victim of it. It was very brave of her to write so openly about a very personal and painful experience. So naturally the appropriate response is to write a blog post entitled So yeah, it’s “your body”. But are you sending a different message?

I’m not going to pretend to be an expert in this subject. I’m not going to pretend that I know all the right buzz words and proper attitudes. Instead, I’m just going to give my gut reaction. And my reaction is that people like this are goddamned douchebag victim blamers.

You know it’s going to be good when Taylor, the author of the piece and the SO of the blog owner, starts out like this:

Ok I get:

  • You didn’t want to be humped in a bar.
  • The guy had the impression it was ok to hump you in a bar.
  • You feel the need to bitch about it.

I understand all of the above.

What I don’t get:

  • How it went from dancing to humping.
  • What gave him the impression that you’d be ok with being humped in a bar, or “penetrated”.
  • Bitching about it the next day instead of doing something proactively about it right then and there.

Does that sound familiar? That’s exactly what a victim of sexual assault needs, to be accused of doing something to give the impression that she was ok with being sexually assaulted. Oh, and that she didn’t respond appropriately. As I said previously, I’m no expert on feminist issues or sexual abuse or psychology, but in what philosophy is it appropriate to suggest that a victim of sexual assault is to blame for their being attacked? I mean, didn’t we already clear this shit up?

Anyway, the rest of the article is a bizarre attempt of the male author to claim to not be blaming the victim while, in the next sentence, blaming the victim.

Here are my thoughts. The average guy, doesn’t arbitrarily start “humping” a random girl in a bar. There has to be SOMETHING that gives him the impression that she would be receptive to it. Whether intentional or not she has to do something to encourage him. Frankly most men are too chicken shit to do anything without some level of encouragement.

Now in no way am I trying to say or imply that you willfully invited the “humping” Just pointing out that there may be something you are overlooking. Some element of your own behavior that invited this bit of intrusion.  Am I trying to place you at fault for his mis-behavior? Hell no.

But I am saying that in any given situation involving two people regardless of their gender  there are two distinctly different perspectives.

My summary: I’m not saying that you are at fault, I’m just pointing out that you brought it on yourself. Jeebus farking christ on toast! Anyway, take a look at that last sentence, “But I am saying that in any given situation involving two people regardless of their gender  there are two distinctly different perspectives.” The perspective of a rapist/sexual predator is that they have the right to do anything they damn well please to another human being, regardless of the lack of consent of their victim. Hmmm. Right, I can see why that should be taken into consideration (note the dripping sarcasm, just in case that wasn’t apparent).

What I’m getting at, is maybe it’s time to take a good long look at your own behavior. Because if your body is being groped, used, assaulted, grabbed, handled or otherwise touched without your permission as often as you say, it would seem that you are doing something to provoke it. Again, this may or may not be something  you’re aware of.

But the average person doesn’t get touched on a daily basis, the average person doesn’t encounter rape and near rape all the damn time.

Sure a person should be able to wear what they want, go where they want, say and do what they want without being treated like a hunk of meat on a deli counter.

No woman deserves to be treated like a whore, however is she happens to be wearing the uniform….

I think y’all get the point. This whole thing made me feel so fucking disgusted and angry that I couldn’t even begin to express myself. As aag pointed out in her comment on the post: “If anyone ever asks me for a definition of “rape culture,” I will be sure to point them to this entry.” It’s astounding beyond belief that this kind of blatant, repulsive victim blaming is being proudly proclaimed; in response to a post about a woman’s experience with sexual assault, no less!

A number of other bloggers have picked up on the story and are also expressing their outrage (I’m sure I missed some, just let me know and I’ll add them). Britni’s own response is here.

This kind of crap needs to be kicked hard in the teeth and ended. Victim blaming is wrong. Period. It’s not fucking rocket science. And if you’re going to just say over and over again that you’re not blaming her, but that she must have done something to provoke a response and not see how that’s victim blaming, then you’re a fucking douche.

RSS Feed Issues, aka dammit Google!

I use to manage my RSS feed. Those of you reading this in Google Reader or something similar will know what this means. Therefore, I’m only talking to you. The rest of you can go look at pr0n or something.

Way back when, Google bought Feedburner. Also way back when, I became a lot less active with the blogging. Fast forward to now. I go to log in to Feedburner and I’m greeted with a Google account page and it wants me to use my old Feedburner username/password to claim my feed. Ok, no biggie. Only it won’t take my username. Or any variation thereof. And it doesn’t recognise any of my email addresses to send me a new password. Fuck me with a chainsaw.

Why do you give a shit? Mainly because my feed URL is probably going to change and if you’ve subscribed to the old one you won’t get any more new posts from me! I’m sure that, to some of you, that sounds like a fantastic thing, but I am assured that there are at least 3 people for whom this will be a problem.

So be prepared. It may change soon as I wrestle with how to get control of my feed again. In the meantime, just keep my blog open in a tab in your browser and hit refresh every hour or so. Better safe than miss one of my posts and have the chupacabras after you. #justsayin

I want to kick Jesus in the nuts!

I am royally pissed off right now. I mean seriously pissed. Back in 2008 I came out as an atheist. I fully expected some friends or family to have a hissy-fit, but the idea that there would be workplace ramifications never entered my mind. In my place of employment, that kind of crap is kept outside. All that matters is what kind of code I write and how I manage my team. Apparently that’s not the case for everyone.

My very good friend, who I shall call “Fucked by Jesus” or FBJ for short, was recently outed at work as being an atheist. Her place of employment is rather saturated with love of the lord, but it’s a huge organization with lots of public scrutiny, so while I expected to hear about some discomfort from the petty whisperings of narrow-minded theistic co-workers, I didn’t expect to hear about a full-blown attack being perpetrated against FBJ by the organization itself. Her internet access has been cut off, TweetDeck and iTunes uninstalled from her PC, her shit rifled through and they moved her to a new cubicle. No idea if that was to bring her closer to Jesus or what.

In the interest of fairness, if there is a policy against having applications like TweetDeck or iTunes installed, then they are legally within their rights to remove them. But I’ll bet you the price of a new bible that there are other, god-loving employees there with those applications installed who haven’t been touched.

This whole thing is fucking bullshit. I suspect that it is even illegal. She is being subjected to an extremely hostile work environment due solely to her religions preferences (or lack thereof). I think the ACLU needs to get involved. This kind of shit shouldn’t be happening in the 21st century. I thought the Inquisitions became passe after the Dark Ages. WTF?

Hang tough, girl! You’ve got the entire atheist community behind you on this one. No one fucks with the CyberLizard’s friends. I’ve got a whole pack of chupacabras just waiting to be unleashed on their asses. Just say the word.

Is Rush Limpdick really this fucktarded?

Rush Limpdick is a racist fucktard

Rush Limpdick is a racist fucktard

Rush Limbaugh, the right-wing radio heavyweight declared on his program Wednesday that the United States needed to return to racially segregated buses.

Referring to an incident in which a white student was beaten by black students on a bus, Limbaugh said: “I think the guy’s wrong. I think not only it was racism, it was justifiable racism. I mean, that’s the lesson we’re being taught here today. Kid shouldn’t have been on the bus anyway. We need segregated buses — it was invading space and stuff. This is Obama’s America.”

A full transcript of Limbaugh’s comments on his radio show is available at

via Raw Story

At what point are all the reasonable people going to stand up to the disgusting racist feces being slung about by the “conservative” movement? The mainstream media needs to get off their collective arses and expose this shit for what it is: racist, violent and morally wrong. Quit hiding behind the guise of “balance”. Sometimes the other side is just plain wrong!

You damn kids get off my lawn!

"You damn kids get off my lawn!" - Fucktard who likes slapping babies

Sonya Mathews, the mother of the 2-year-old child, told police that both were walking in the aisles of the Rockbridge Road store when Roger Stephens, 61, approached and said “if you don’t shut that baby up, I will shut her up for you,” according to a police report.

A few moments later, in another aisle, Stephens grabbed the 2-year-old and slapped her across the face four or five times, according to the report.

Stephens then told Mathews, “See, I told you I would shut her up,” according to the report.

I call myself a pacifist, but if that son of a bitch had done that to my kid I would have beaten the everliving shit out of him. Not so peaceful, I know, but there is a primal urge to defend one’s offspring and damn if that situation doesn’t seem like a good time to give in to it. Slapped her four or five times? And then bragged about it to the mother?!? Fucker is lucky he’s not in the hospital with the woman’s shoe rammed so far up his ass that he’d need to use shoe polish to brush his teeth.

If you want even more stomach-churning ignorant fucktardery on parenting, check out the comments here.

It’s a good thing I’m not a teacher in Seminole County, because they would fire the hell out of me if they caught wind of my blog. I mean, if all it took for John Wolfe to get fired is to drop the f-bomb a few times and sound a little depressed on his LiveJournal, they’d probably stone me to fucking death.

Allow me to summarize the situation: Boy graduates from college. Boy has crappy job as waiter that he bitches a little about on blog. Boy gets job as teacher. School fires boy after 5 days for aforementioned blog.

WTF? I could understand it if he were talking about wanting to get it on with students or fantasizing about burning down the school, but unless there is a whole lot more shit on his blog than what is featured here, I can’t imagine how they can legally fire him. I know Florida is a right-to-work state and all, but c’mon!

From the article on the local Fox affiliate web site:

But district leaders say its really quite simple. They said that he crossed an ethical line, and for that, he must be terminated.

Wolfe has never had his own classroom. He has been a substitute teacher in Orange and Alachua Counties up until Lake Mary High School hired him this summer as a Television and Film teacher.

Just five days into the job, a few of his students stumbled across his personal online blog.

Read excerpts from Wolfe’s blog  >>>

After reading it, they told another teacher who reported it to district leaders who decided that Wolfe’s language and thoughts were inappropriate behavior for a teacher.

Let’s see, what horrific things did Wolfe talk about?

  • The lack of morality in major corporations and how they screw people
  • A tongue-in-cheek letter to Jesus asking for help with a job application
  • Some punk rock lyrics
  • How he had classes with some dude who later went psycho on campus and got arrested
  • His feelings of depression and his efforts to thwart it
  • An apology for being rude to someone earlier in the day
  • Oh, and he used the word fuck and shit like that

Yeah, it seems simple to me, now, too. It would be completely unethical to let this guy teach our children Film and Television. Fucktards.

Murder for Darwin!

Thank you, WorldNutDaily, for clearing up our misconceptions about James von Brunn, the psycho who thought it would be fun to shoot up a Holocaust museum. See, in a WND “Exclusive” (which means that only they are fucked up enough to take credit for printing this kind of garbage) Bob Unruh reveals the real motivation behind von Brunn’s rampage: Darwin made him do it! Seriously, they reveal all in their headline: Darwin-loving museum shooter hates Bible, Christians

James von Brunn, the man who allegedly shot and killed a guard at the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., was a Darwin-lover who hated the Bible and Christians, and defies media efforts to classify him as a stereotypical “right-winger,” according to report.

As the kids say, that’s a bold statement (The kids do say that, right?). This report must have some concrete evidence to back up a claim like that. Where did that report come from?

The Moonbattery blog revealed von Brunn advocated the socialist policies espoused by Adolf Hitler and used Darwinian theory to support his anti-Semitism.

Holy shit. A paranoid, conspiracy theorizing, hate and fear mongering site using another paranoid, conspiracy theorizing, hate and fear mongering site to back up their paranoid conspiracy theories.

Dammit, my irony meter just asploded.

Darwin and Hitler used to hang out; smoking pot and planning the destruction of the lesser races

Darwin and Hitler used to hang out; smoking pot and planning the destruction of the lesser races

The best part is that they can call him a “Darwin-lover” is because he dug Hitler and, as we all know, Hitler was Darwin’s best-man at his wedding. They used to go down to the local bruehaus and knock back shots together, before crafting plans to further the dominance of the Aryan race through eugenics.

I’m torn between wanting to laugh my ass of at the incredible lack of any sort of reasonable thought process in these people, and wanting to weep with the futility of trying to maintain sanity while fricking idiots like these are doing their damnedest to twist the world into the sick fantasy that exists in their own heads.

What is up with the White House’s blag feed?

I like teh blogs. I’ve got 140 subscriptions in my Google Reader. So on inauguration day, I was excited to check out a new and see that they had a blog. I immediately signed up. Lately I’ve been regretting that decision. Why? Because every few days they fuck up their RSS feed and every fracking post get’s flagged as new. So now I’ve got 101 unread posts in my Politics folder, dating back to Jan. 20.
